District History
The passing of light from one leader to the next.
Long ago, in the heart of Buffalo, New York, a light was kindled. That light was called the Sons of Solomon District Grand Lodge #4, and it was carried by men of vision, faith, and strength.
The first keeper of the light was James Cornelius (1963–1969). He lit the path, steady and bright, until it was time to pass the torch.
The flame then rested with Reverend Randolph (1969–1972), a shepherd of both spirit and lodge, who guided with prayerful wisdom.
Next came Robert Hawkins (1972–1978), whose steady hand carried the brethren through years of growth.
Then Rufus Brantley (1978–1980), and Willie Folmar (1980–1982), each in their season, ensured the fire did not fade.
When Albert Prince (1982–1989) took the torch, the flame grew strong. His light burned so brightly that years later, he would be called again to bear it (1998–2001).
From Edward Walker (1989–1996) to William Artest (1996–1997), and then William Cathcart (1997–1998), each man added his own oil to the lamp.
In the new century, William Artest (2001–2004) and Stanley Scott (2004– ) held the trust, keeping the light steady through changing times.
And so it was carried, until in modern years the flame reached John Slaughter (2019–2020), Lawrence Luciano (2021–2022), William Artest again (2022–2023), and Ray King (2023– 2024).
Now, the torch rests in the hands of Damien Dorsey (2024–present). The light still shines, as bright as in 1963, reminding every Mason of Buffalo that the Sons of Solomon live on.
And so, brothers and friends, when the sun sets and night falls over the city, the story is told:
The light of Solomon never dies. It only passes from one heart to another, forever.
Humbly Submitted, your Brothers of Sons of Solomon
